MA Clinical Mental Health and Art Therapy - Wayne State University

  • Clients who are ready to explore their deeper selves and go beyond cognitive talk therapy are ideal for my style of therapy! Those who feel stuck, squeezed, torn, or burdened and wanting to free themselves from a limited experience to live as their authentic selves are clients who might enjoy my compassion focused and creative expression therapy approach.

  • With training as a classical musician and an academic background in neuroscience and research, being a therapist combines my love for the arts and science. I find it meaningful to companion people in their healing process and offer tools/skills/practices that empower them to make their wellness hopes their lived reality.

  • As cliché as it sounds, change takes time. Some epiphanies can happen in the first few sessions and some life changes can come quickly, while other skills and insights require a growing in awareness, nurturing of courage and refueling of willpower for shifts to occur. Remember, however long this process takes you says nothing about your strength or character. Having a therapist that understands you, and listens to your feedback of what’s working and not working is also important. This process is a collaboration.

  • Therapy can hold space for people in a way that other relationships aren't designed to do - as a therapist, I use a variety of skills to help clients find inner and outer clarity, become more themselves, and feel empowered to live their lives fully.

  • I believe that it is the therapeutic relationship that matters most in this work; this means that I want to build a healthy and appropriate working relationship with my clients by being open, genuine and compassionate. I also would like clients to know that I use non-traditional methods such as body movement, art making, sound, mindfulness practices to help clients process difficult emotions, face challenges, and make difficult choices.
