Get to know Benji…
Benji was very clearly put on this earth to be of service. Originally intended to be a hypoallergenic family dog for a little boy, though through divine intervention, he found his way into Jordyn Kahler’s life. From the moment his previous family met him, they even stated, “Benji would make a great therapy dog.” Luckily, or as fate would have it, this was always Jordyn’s intention when the right dog came her way.
In January of 2021, Jordyn and Benji started training with Loyal K-9, and Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs. Benji was certified as a Therapy Dog in May 2023. He is also part of the Fur Angels Chapter of Michigan. This organization allows him to go to different sites (hospitals, nursing homes, schools, college campuses, etc) and provide support with different populations of people.
Benji is incredibly friendly, and has quite the personality. His temperament ranges from very playful to relaxed and calm. Benji LOVES people and often seeks their attention by wanting cuddles, pets or playing with him & his toys! You can expect Benji to greet you at the door and guide you to Jordyn’s office where he will either make himself comfortable on the rug, join you on the couch, or play with one of his many toys (non-squeaky of course).
Jordyn has often heard from clients that he provides them a sense of joy, comfort and can bring out their playful side all while in therapy. Animal assisted therapy is backed by research to support those with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health related issues.
Benji would love to be a part of your session and journey with therapy, but it is completely optional to have him present in your therapy session.
